Drupal, an open source web content management platform, has become a huge success. The modularity of its core framework and the availability of thousands of free modules and themes make it a very powerful tool for building modern websites and web applications in general. In the early days after it started off in 2000, the Drupal platform was particularly popular with smaller and midsized organizations. But in the last years we have seen a major uptake in the enterprise market: more and more large organizations are discovering the power of the Drupal framework for building feature rich applications like websites, intranets, portals and blogs.
During this seminar, you will first get an overview of what Drupal actually can do: how does it work? How does it look like? What are the concepts behind it? What are these ‘modules’ and ‘themes’?
In the second session, Dries Buytaert , founder of Drupal and CTO at Acquia, will discuss how organizations are using Drupal to power their social publishing strategies, share insights on the release of Drupal 7 and talk about the role Acquia plays to help organizations succeed with Drupal.
A number of case studies will be presented to show you the different ways to use Drupal. We will do this in Pecha Kucha format, i.e. 7 minute presentations about each case.
In the last session, you will discover some typical enterprise extensions to Drupal. How can you link your document management system to Drupal in a secure and cost-effective way?
How can you make a mobile version of your site? Or how could you benefit from a cloud computing environment like Amazon EC2 to host your Drupal based websites and be able to get enterprise scalability and flexibility at a fraction of the cost.
